The US Army and Air Force have joined together to switch all their sources of electricity to entirely clean and renewable energy, the Air Force News Service reported.

“The Army and Air Force have identified energy resilience as a critical objective, advancing the capability for their systems… to respond to… unexpected disruptions,” the report stated on Wednesday. “Now, both offices will share support staff, business processes and best practices.”

On Wednesday, the services formalized their partnership during a ceremony at the Department of Defense with a memorandum of agreement, signed by Army Assistant Secretary Katherine Hammack and Air Force Assistant Secretary Miranda Ballentine, the report pointed out.

“I am pleased that through this agreement, we can share lessons learned and leverage the relationships we have developed with government, industry and utilities for the benefit of both our services,” Hammack said.

The US Air Force recently established its Office of Energy Assurance to develop an integrated facility energy portfolio and the Army created its Office of Energy Initiatives in October 2014, the report noted. (PNA/Sputnik) BNB/CDN
