Shenzhen, China — On June 17, TCL-IMAX, a joint venture formed by TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited and IMAX Corporation, held a press conference in Shanghai, China, during which it announced the launch of the IMAX Private Theatre “Palais”™. This product marks another important move by TCL Corporation in the home theatre market following the launch of its GoLive “Synchronous Cinema”.

“Palais”™ has been the first product of TCL-IMAX following two years of joint research and development. The company was established at IMAX Corporation’s headquarters in Los Angeles in 2013, with the aim to develop, design and manufacture premium in-home theater systems.

The IMAX Private Theatre “Palais”™, according to Tomson Li Dongsheng, Chairman and CEO of TCL Corporation, has integrated TCL’s advantages in hardware and software capabilities, with IMAX’s most advanced video and audio technologies. “Users can enjoy tailor-made home theater content and the best in equipment maintenance services”.

CEO of IMAX, Richard Gelfond, added that “‘Palais’™ is the first one-stop home theatre solution that deploys the most advanced IMAX technology at home. It delivers IMAX’s best-in-class projection and sound technology as part of the very first completely turn-key home theatre system from a single source”.

In the press conference, Tomson Li addressed IMAX as a respected world leading audio-visual solutions provider. He expressed his belief that the cooperation between TCL and IMAX would provide users who seek premier audio-visual effects with an unprecedented entertainment experience. Meanwhile, Rich Gelfond mentioned TCL as the fastest growing company in the global entertainment technology industry, whose strong production capacity, extensive distribution network, and rich marketing experience in the B2C consumer electronics field could serve as a firm support for the IMAX Private Theatre “Palais”™.

The “Palais”™ is not TCL Corporation’s debut in home movie theatre. Back in May, it supported its subsidiary GoLive TV Tech Co., Ltd to launch a pilot progamme, “Synchronous Cinema”, along with the China Research Institute of Film Science & Technology, China’s national level public welfare-oriented scientific research institute. Compared to the GoLive “Synchronous Cinema” which targets the general public, TCL-IMAX’s “Palais”™ is a top of the line private theatre system targeting high-end users. The launches of GoLive “Synchronous Cinema” and IMAX Private Theatre “Palais”™ assure TCL full coverage in both general and high-end segments of the home theatre business.
