LG Unveils Smart Bulb For iOS and Android

Published

LG has launched its new Smart Bulb range – a set of lightbulbs that connect to iOS and Android devices, featuring several interactive modes.

The 10W LED Bulb works with Android version 4.3 and higher or iOS version 6.0 and up, and connects via Bluetooth. The Smart Bulb will be controllable via an app on your smartphone or tablet.

LG claim if the bulb was ‘on’ for an average of five hours a day, then it would last for up to 10 years.

The Smart Bulb features “LG Smart Lighting” that has a security mode to make it appear like you’re home when you’re away and a mode that will flash-alert when you receive a phone call.

There’s also a ‘party mode’ for Android devices, which will set the brightness to the music emanating from the smartphone and will even blink to the beat. You can also control the brightness of the bulb, and set it to slowly brighten as you wake up from a nap.

The LG Smart Bulb is taking on the Phillips Hue, a wireless lighting system that lets you control up to 50 light bulbs via a smartphone app.

LG has announced the Smart Bulb will be available in South Korea to start, priced at 35,000 won each.
