Leak Shows iPhone 15 with USB-C Port

Leaked renders of the highly anticipated iPhone 15 Pro have emerged, revealing several major changes in design. These images, which are based on CAD models of the phone obtained by tech publication 9to5Mac, showcase the expected design elements that will likely be seen in the entire iPhone 15 series.

One of the most notable changes that the leaks show is the switch from the Lightning port to USB-C charging. This move is in line with the mandatory switch to a common USB-C charging standard in several regions, including the European Union. However, Apple may still restrict the use of USB-C charging and connectivity to cables approved for its MFi program, which are optimized for data transfer and charging speeds. The rumors also add that Apple has also developed its own integrated circuit board for Lightning compatibility, which will be used alongside the USB-C port.

The iPhone 15 Pro renders also depict a more seamless transition from glass to the metal frame, which is now more curved than previous models. This design tweak could make the phone easier to hold and less prone to slipping from the hands.

The camera bump on the iPhone 15 Pro is thicker, but the sensor layout remains unchanged from the iPhone 14 Pro. The lenses are reportedly thicker, potentially indicating an upgrade to larger sensors.

The volume rockers and mute switch may also see changes, with capacitive buttons possibly replacing the physical ones and a redesigned mute switch in the works.

On the front of the phone, Dynamic Island is still present and about the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro. The leak also shows that the iPhone 15 is also a few millimeters smaller than its predecessor, with thinner bezels. The display size, however, is expected to remain at 6.1 inches.

The leaked renders offer a glimpse into the expected design changes for the upcoming iPhone 15 series, giving fans and tech enthusiasts something to look forward to in the near future. (GFB)
