Andromium Will Turn Your Android Smartphone Into A Desktop PC

Published

on

A new Kickstarter project will unleash the full potential of your smartphone, dubbed the Andromium, this project will basically allow users to use their phones like a computer. It’s both hardware and software.

The hardware portion comes in the form of a dock that basically turns your phone into a computer unit, and has USB ports that will allow users to attach peripherals like a keyboard, mouse, as well as an external display.

As for the software portion, there’s an Andromium Computer Platform which offers a desktop-like UI that users can interact with using their mouse and keyboard. It’s even been modeled after Windows 7 and OS X, taking the best UI elements from each software and mashing them up into one.

The Andromium will also allow users to take advantage of the hardware in their phones as well as continue to receive notifications and even phone calls while using it as a desktop.

In terms of app compatibility, its creators claim that most apps will work with the platform in addition to Andromium-specific apps.

The Andromium Computing Platform is currently a Kickstarter project seeking funding, so if you’d like to help, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
