What principles should guide my work?

“Do not defraud or rob your neighbor. Do not make your hired workers wait until the next day to receive their pay.” Leviticus 19:13

“The Lord demands accurate scales and balances; He sets the standards for fairness.” Proverbs 16:11

At its best, work honors God and brings meaning and joy to life. This is best when we bring excellence, concern for the well-being of others, purpose, beauty and service–character traits we see in God’s work. When we have the perspective that we are actually working for God, it takes the focus away from the task and onto why we are doing it, which is to help people know God. The excitement and interest that come from working for God are not primarily from the work but from the One for whom we do the work.  (Deuteronomy 25:15-16)
