SIM Registration Extended for 90 Days

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. approved the 90-day extension of the mandatory registration of SIM cards on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

According to the Facebook post of Radio Television Malacañang, as of April 23, over 82 million SIMs were registered — 49.31% of total active SIM cards out of the 168,016,400 in the country.

Out of the 82 million registered SIM cards, over 37 million are Globe subscribers, over 39 million are Smart subscribers, and over 5 million are Dito subscribers.

With the 90-day extension now official, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) targets to increase the number of registered SIMs to 70% during the extension.

Marcos ordered the DICT to make a formal announcement for the 90-day extension of SIM registration.
