Samsam to JVR: Soc and Edigul Still in Office

Already irked over the incoming administration’s muddling up the affairs at the City Hall, first district Representative-elect Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas yesterday reminded them that Mayor Socrates “Soc” Fernandez is still the mayor of Talisay City while his grandfather, Cong. Eduardo “Edigul” Gullas, is still the incumbent congressman of the first district.

“They should remember that Mayor Soc is still the mayor, and Papa Eddie is still the congressman of the district,” said Samsam in yesterday’s press conference.

Samsam’s statement came after Talisay City Mayor-elect Johnny delos Reyes wanted Gullas to stop the transfer of the vendors to the Tabunok Public Market. Delos Reyes said Gullas should cease making moves with regards to the transfer, as he has plans for it when he assumes office on July 1.

Delos Reyes, a businessman, defeated Gullas last May 13 polls by 736 votes.

In defense to his grandfather, who is in Congress since yesterday, Samsam said the transfer of the vendors back to Tabunok Public Market  is part of the promises made by the older Gullas when he was campaigning.

“Win or lose, it was a promise that he should keep,” he said.

Meanwhile, Delos Reyes ordered Fernandez to “cease” hiring employees at the City Hall, as there are only a few weeks to go before he sits as mayor. To this, Samsam told Delos Reyes to wait for his turn when Fernandez’s term officially ends before issuing orders.
