Quezon City government in partnership with the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) and the Environmental Management Bureau-National Capital Region (EMB-NCR) will hold the 3rd Ecological Solid Waste Management Exhibition and Environmental Summit on January 26-29 at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

The event, which will be part of the observance of Zero Waste Month, will bring together leaders and practitioners in solid waste management, climate change, disaster risk prevention and mitigation and renewable energy in a bid to raise awareness on environmental protection, especially among millennials.

What we will be doing is to encourage the participation of the so-called millenials in the event and gather their view regarding the current changes in the environment,” said Dodgie Osabel of the Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region. Environment Secretary Gina Lopez and Senator Loren Legarda are among those invited to speaker during the event, which is expected to provide Quezon City the needed opportunity to align its programs with various environmental advocacies mounted by concerned government agencies and non-government organizations.

The QC government has already been credited with adopting strategies and initiatives that contribute to the protection of the environment against further degradation, aside from mitigating the impact of climate change. It has also initiated the passage of the green building ordinance which showcases the city’s green building initiative.

Mayor Herbert Bautista said that environment management will continue to remain a critical foundation for the city’s urban development strategies. (QC PAISO/RJB/SDL/PIA-NCR)
