PRO7: We’re Prepared for the Holy Week

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is in full security preparation for the Holy Week celebration within the entire Central Visayas region.

Police Supt. Edward E. Carranza told Cebu media yesterday that all police station commanders in the four provinces of the region have already instructed regarding their basic assignments during holidays.

Knowing that criminal elements are usually out to display bad scenarios anytime of the day especially during holidays, the police authorities in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor are also establishing anti-crime strategies aimed to maintain peace and order in every locality.

Carranza said that every police station has established police assistance centers in every church were most of the people and converging during the Lenten week.

These centers are also equip with enough manpower to give assistance to anybody who become criminal victims or those who loss their children or any problem they might encounter during the day.

However, in the municipalities of Minglanilla and Bantayan where majority of the people are converging especially during Sunday, the resurrection day of Jesus Christ, there are more policemen to be assigned there.

It is already a common tradition of Bantayan folks to celebrate their annual fiesta which falls during the Holy Week celebration.

So that it is just reasonable for the police hierarchy in the province to augment police forces in the area, Carranza said.

Carranza further said that traffic policemen are already prepared themselves to immediately solve any problem related to heavy traffic congestion in their respective localities.

Meanwhile, he said that as of this time they have not monitored any criminal group who may disrupt the yearly celebration of Holy Week in any parts of the region. But the police authorities are expecting more influx of both local and foreign tourists who will try to witness and experience the kind of Holy Week celebration the Filipino people ought to make.

Carranza explained that there are also tourist policemen who are assigned to watch out the overall safety of all tourists in their respective areas of responsibility.

With the proper preparation of the police authorities on the much awaited Holy Week celebration the public may also do their part to help the police maintain the peaceful activities during the Holy Week.
