Renamed as OLX.ph in March this year, the Philippines leading online buy and sell site has expressed optimism on the Cebuanos to patronize them.

“We hope that OLX Cebu (team) will bring the most significant number”, Regina Aguilar, OLX.ph Cebu senior marketing manager said yesterday during the Cebu media launch of the Yesss, Yaman (wealth) campaign of the then sulit.com.ph.

All the way from their headquarters in Ortigas, Manila, Rj and Arianne David, the couple behind the phenomenal on-line buy and sell medium revealed that they are targeting at least one-million new on-line sellers, among them Cebuanos after their rebranding earlier this year to OLX.ph, signaling a merger with the world’s number one classified ads website OLX (OnLine eXchange) which has base in New York, USA and Buenos Aries in Argentina.

RJ, also the President of OLX.ph, meanwhile emphasized that the website remains free of charge to its users, encouraging the public to sell on line their second hand stuff.

Their official jingle which was also launched simultaneously said it best in one of its line, “Ang hindi na ginagamit I-benta mo sa OLX, (sell to OLX the things that you are not anymore using).”

Held at the newly-renovated Grand Convention Center of Cebu, the David couple meanwhile revealed during the occasion that their company started as experimental website that only spent P2,400 for its domain name and hosting fee in September 2006.

The couple left their corporate jobs afterwards when the site got enormous traffic, taking full management of it where Rj who is a mechanical engineer by profession even had a stint as faculty of his alma mater, the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

Also the company’s managing director, he proudly recalls that theirs was a business that started right from the comforts of their bedroom from out of the little amount of investment.

“I still remember I launched the site in my bedroom, it was just an experiment for us” Rj narrated how they did it in their residence in Angono, Rizal.

As many would have it, the rest is history for the couple who received awards and commendations from various entrepreneurial and business groups in the country.

The David’s won the PLDT MVP Bossing award 2012, Go Negosyo Inspiring Young Filipino Entrepreneur 2011 and Technopreneur Award for Go Negosyo Filipino Technopreneur Summit 2013, among others.
