NGO’s,Resorts Celebrate Coral Triangle day

Several divers from different non-government organizations and private resorts in Lapu-Lapu City celebrated the International Coral Triangle Day yesterday through ‘scubasurero’.

Maribago Blue Water Resorts, in cooperation with neighboring private resorts like the Shangri-la Mactan, among others, spearheaded the coastal clean-up and scubasurero. Several volunteers came to clean up the beaches, while environmental divers scoured Lapu-Lapu’s seabeds for unwanted wastes.

Fr. Tito Soquiño, who was among those who officiated the Holy Mass prior to the main event, said it is best to celebrate the said event by clearing up what would one day destroy the country’s resources. Soquiño, who is also president of Knight-Stewards of the Sea, Inc. (Seaknights), reminded those who attended that the entire Philippines is a part of the Coral Triangle, hence all its resources must be protected all the time.
