The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) on Wednesday opened an off-site printing office in Lapu-Lapu City that is expected to reduce the backlog in driver’s license cards.

Victor Emmanuel Caindec, director of LTO-7, said the new office in Island Central Mactan is the second off-site office to print new driver’s license cards with five-year validity.

Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza led the ribbon-cutting and blessing of the new printing office.

Caindec said the office will entertain printing of driver’s license cards applicants who are holding official receipts (OR) issued from November 2, 2016 onwards.

According to him, former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, who is running for senator in May 13 mid-term elections, called his attention on the backlog of unprinted driver’s licenses in the four provinces in Central Visayas.

Businessman Eric Lim, chief operating officer of Island Central Mactan, offered a space to LTO-7’s printing center for free.

Caindec said the mall also provided the LTO-7 free use of internet, electricity, and water.

“On the part of LTO, we will provide five personnel to man the printing office,” he said.

The office is capable of printing 200 driver’s license cards for regular lane and 100 cards for priority lane or for senior citizens, persons with disability, and pregnant women, he noted.

Caindec said LTO-7 and the mall management, represented by Lim, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) last Saturday (March 2) in the presence of Go, for the office.

The new printing office in Lapu-Lapu is located on the third floor of Island Central Mactan, along M.L. Quezon National Highway in Barangay Pusok here and is open to driver’s license applicants from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays through Sundays.

It will be closed on the third Saturday and Sunday of every month for preventive system maintenance which is conducted in all LTO district, extension, driver’s license renewal centers. (PNA)
