A total of 13,152 individuals have more cause to celebrate these holidays after passing the Career Service Examination-Paper and Pencil Test (CSE-PPT) held last October 18, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) reported. See list of passers.

Louise Marie Loreno from Davao Region and Lonn Albert Chong from Caraga led the 11,364 new Professional eligibles with a rating of 86.99.

Completing the Top 10 of the Professional level are Jaifreed Cabangal and Louie Anthony Dela Luna (Western Visayas) both with an 86.60 rating; John Ariel Rojas (Southern Tagalog), 86.58; Karla Phloem Figarola (Western Visayas), 86.45; Earl Van Lapura (Northern Mindanao), 86.42; Jamie Therese Gundaya (Davao Region), 86.38; Patricia May Sulit (Southern Tagalog), 86.37; and June Ritchar Abulon (Zamboanga Peninsula), 86.22.

Leading the 1,788 new Subprofessional eligibles is Estelle Kathleen Castelo from Southern Tagalog with a rating of 90.98.

Also in the Top 10 Subprofessional eligibles are Norris Nino Magallano (Central Visayas) with 90.65 rating; Mirajean Abaja and Eden Faith Fernandez, 89.96; Jasmin Queen Mikunug, 89.52; Sheryll Santoalla, 89.13; Kim Denise Mendoza, 88.61; Rosalyn Dela Cruz, 88.53; Joyce Sucaldito, 88.48; and Johanna Abad, 88.46, all from Southern Tagalog.

The total number of passers represents 11.02% of the 119,333 total examinees for both the Professional and Subprofessional levels. The figure does not include, though, some 56,985 registered examinees from areas where the examinations were suspended and re-scheduled to December 6 due to Typhoon Lando and the effects of haze in Indonesia. These include all testing centers in Regions 1, 2, National Capital Region (NCR) and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and those in Olongapo City, Cabanatuan City, and Bongao in Tawi-tawi.

Examinees, both who passed and failed, may generate their individual test result through the Online Civil Service Examination Results Generation System (OCSERGS). Requirements and procedures in claiming the Certification of Eligibility are contained in CSC Examination Advisory No. 18, s. 2015.

Eligibles

The CSC said the new Subprofessional eligibles are qualified to enter the first level of government service, while the Professional eligibles may join the first and second levels.

The first level includes clerical, trades, crafts, and custodial service positions that involve non-professional or sub-professional work requiring less than four years of college studies. The second level covers professional, technical and scientific positions up to Division Chief that involve professional, technical, or scientific work requiring at least four years of college studies.

However, the CSC clarified that a Professional or Subprofessional eligibility is just one of the requirements to join the government. A civil service eligible must also meet the education, experience, and training requirements for permanent appointment to a government career service position.

According to CSC, Region 7 (Central Visayas) got the highest passing rate at 14.28% or 1,429 passers out of 10,010 examinees. Other top performing regions of the country in terms of passing rate include Region 3 (Central Luzon), 14.02%; Region 4 (Southern Tagalog), 13.71%; Region 6 (Western Visayas), 13.43%; and Region 5 (Bicol Region), 12.34%.

2016 exam

The CSC will conduct the first CSE-PPT for 2016 on April 17. CSC Regional and Field Offices nationwide will accept applications until February 25, 2016 on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis. Interested parties are advised to read CSC Examination Announcement No. 07, s. 2015 for details on testing centers, qualification or admission requirements, filing procedure, and other information regarding the April 17, 2016 CSE-PPT.

The CSC added that there is no more limit in taking the career service examinations. Those who fail may repeatedly take the test, but the same level of examination may only be taken once every three months. An individual may take both levels of examination within the three-month period.
