LTFRB Warns Drivers Of PhP5,000 Penalty For Trip-Cutting

Erring drivers were warned by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Sunday to refrain from cutting their trips or else be slapped with a PhP5,000 fine.

LTFRB board member Atty. Ariel Inton made the warning after around six US Express buses were reported trip-cutting or cutting their trips short and do not follow the routes indicated in their franchise.

“Cutting trips is like stealing from passengers,” Inton said in Filipino pointing out that passengers who pay in full amount but do not get dropped off to their destination is disadvantaged.

Aside from being fined PhP5,000, public utility vehicles (PUVs) that cut trips may also risk losing their franchise.

“This is a violation of franchise regulations,” Inton added.

He, however, assured that the Board will continue apprehending PUVs caught violating regulations and urged the public to report drivers who cut trips to the LTFRB. (PNA) LGI/ANP
