Gipatung-an Ni Gov Jun Ang Kalandrakas Sa Talisay

Published

on

Cebu Gov. Jun Davide asked the two city officials of Talisay City to reconcile and to work with each other for the welfare of city residents. This came about as an offshoot of Talisay City Mayor JVR and his son, John Yre delos Reyes, the City Administrator paying a visit at the Capitol recently to let the Governor know of the present squabble happening in their city because of the known obstructionism being done by VM Romeo Villarante.

It would not be surprising if he belonged to the opposing political camp but to be a partymate of Mayor JVR and to behave as such with total defiance and disrespect of the city mayor is totally unacceptable. In retrospection, Mayor JVR still remembered the time before the election when he asked Villarante to be the one to run for mayor but he declined. Now that JVR won he is showing how he wished he were the mayor. Mayor JVR is not that power hungry and he said he is amenable to slide down to the No. 2 post in the next election to give way to his Vice Mayor. But what hurts the mayor is a statement from the vice mayor who was quoted as saying, “Patuga-tuga pagka-mayor unya di kamao!” That is the most painful statement that made Mayor JVR cry.

As a public servant VM Villarante should not have allowed himself to be demonized by his “overflowing ambition” to become a mayor because he can have his time at the right time and not to utter words that will be seen as a direct insult to the person of Mayor JVR. Even the poor man in the street has his own pride to protect if he knows his own personal well-being has been trampled upon and abused, how much more for Mayor JVR?!
