Fair Weather Seen in Next 3-5 Days

Except for isolated light rains, most parts of the country will continue to experience fair weather until Christmas day as northeast monsoon remains the dominant weather system now affecting the country, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday.

PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the northeast monsoon or “hangin amihan” now prevails over Northern Luzon, which starts blowing into the country from Siberia every mid-October and strengthens every mid-December.

“So far the effect of northeast monsoon is concentrated in Northern Luzon but it will also bring cold mornings in some parts of Luzon including Metro Manila and the northeast monsoon usually peaks from early January to mid-February,” Aurelio told the Philippines News Agency (PNA).

However, Aurelio said that its not too cold due to the presence of El Niño affecting the country.

He said that the agency has not seen any weather disturbance near the Philippine Area of Responsibility that may develop into tropical cyclone within the next three to five days or until weekend.

For Wednesday forecast, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced over Ilocos Region, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

It added moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast to east will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.

The state-run weather bureau has not issued a gale warning as the fisherfolk are now safe to venture into the seas. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
