Fair Weather Seen in Most Parts of PHL Except E. Visayas

(PNA) — A low pressure area (LPA) will bring rains over Eastern Visayas while most parts of the country will continue to experience fair weather until the weekend, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday.

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that as of 4 a.m. Friday, the LPA was spotted some 450 km east of Maasin, Southern Leyte (10.2N, 129.0E).

He said the LPA has slim chance to intensify into tropical cyclone but the agency continues to monitor it. Once it develops into a cyclone while inside the country it will be locally named “Jenny”, the tenth tropical cyclone to affect the country this year.

He added the LPA is expected to dissipate by Sunday or Monday.

The presence of LPA will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Bicol region and the province of Quezon until the weekend.

He said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, until weekend will have sunny to cloudy skies with possible isolated rains mostly in the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorm or convection.

In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the northeast to northwest over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
