Fair Weather Seen for ‘Undas’

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday said the country will remain storm-free in the next three days.

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the agency has not seen any weather disturbance near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) that may develop into tropical cyclone within the next three days or until weekend and at this time the northeast monsoon or “hangin amihan” continues affecting Luzon.

He said fair weather is expected in most parts of the country in the next three days except for light rains in Northern and Central Luzon due to the presence of northeast monsoon, the dominant weather system affecting the country.

Aurelio advised the public to bring umbrella as they pay respects to their departed loved ones as part of the yearly observance of All Saints’ Day (Undas) because it may get warm in the afternoon, and there may be brief rainshowers.

However, one to two tropical cyclones are expected to affect the country for the month of November.

The next tropical cyclones will be locally name “Marilyn” and “Nonoy”, the 13th and 14th tropical cyclones to affect the country this year.

For Thursday forecast, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced over the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA forecasts “partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.”

It added moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough.

The state weather bureau has not issued gale warning as the fisherfolk are safe to venture into the sea. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
