DSWD Assistant Secretary Hervilla Speaks in Cebu Forum

Assistant Secretary Hope V. Hervilla for Operations and Programs Group-Protective Programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) talks with various People’s Organizations (POs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) relative to issues on the Department’s emergency shelter assistance (ESA) in Typhoon Yolanda affected areas in a consultation in Cebu City on November 7, 2016.

Held at the St. Theresa’s College Audio Visual Room, the forum was organized by Community Empowerment Resource Network (CERNET), Inc., a group of development institutions of Cebu in cooperation with St. Theresa’s College.

The forum carries the theme “Yolanda Survivors 3 Years After: The Devastation Continues…”

November 8 marks the 3rd year anniversary since typhoon Yolanda devastated most parts of Eastern Visayas and some provinces of Western Visayas and Central Visayas including Cebu. It caused loss of lives and damaged to properties. Many people were killed, and damaged billions worth of properties. It was the strongest typhoon that hit the country.

Assec. Hervilla also visited the regional office of DSWD-7 and joined the staff in the Monday convocation.

In her message, she inspired the workers by acknowledging that DSWD workers are hardworking and dedicated. “Despite the challenges and sacrifices, we are happy to serve the people. Serving the people na walang bahid ng katiwalian,” stressed Assec. Hervilla.

After the convocation, she had a consultation meeting with RD Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre and other officials of DSWD VII regarding implementation of various DSWD programs and services.
