Operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (Paidsotg) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Saturday arrested two women for alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade in Talisay City in southern Cebu.

They also seized from the two women 250 small plastic sachets of white crystals believed to be shabu of methamphetamine hydrochloride worth some Php 1.2 million.

SPO2 Reynaldo Solante of PIB identified the arrested suspects as Carla Bazar, 28, and her cousin Remedios Cabardo, 18, of Sitio Galaxy, Barangay Tangke, Talisay City.

Both women denied being involved in the illegal drug trade.

But Solante said the house of the suspects doubles as a drug den where junkies can sniff illegal drugs.

The women said the drugs were thrown inside their house during the commotion.

The other target of PIB and Paidsotg, a certain Ian, eluded arrest.

Ian is reportedly the supplier of Marlon Cantiga, who was arrested in Barangay Tapon, Toledo City last Nov. 14.

Solante said Cantiga divulged Ian’s name during their investigation.

Solante said it was difficult to capture drug personalities in Tangke because they hire persons known as spotters, whose task is to inform them if there are police in their neighborhood. (PNA) RMA/EB/EDS
