Coast Guard Cebu recently conducted a final briefing at the headquarters of the Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV) with all operators and owners of registered vessels and bancas that will join the Sinulog Fluvial Procession this year, according to the CGDCV Information Officer Lt. Junior Grade Michael Encina.

There was a total of 179 stakeholders present during the briefing.

The activity aimed to ensure all of the participating vessels and bancas are properly apprised regarding the flow and phases of the fluvial procession, regulations to be followed, and the preparations made to ensure public safety during the procession.

There will be a closure of the North and South Mactan Channels from 4:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Jan. 18, 2020 until the disembarkation of Sto. Niño image.

All participating vessels and motorbancas must be inside the channel for the proper arrangement of their respective divisions.

CGDCV also relayed the following reminders: only galleon and the close-in escort as well as tugboats will be executing Phase 1 and 2; the release of Division 2 will be upon the signal made by TU Maritime Commander eventually after phase 2; all vessels/motor bancas will slow down upon reaching Pier 3; there shall be a complete halt at Pier 2; and only the galleon and the securing force will proceed to Pier 1.

Spectators during the fluvial procession on Saturday are reminded to avoid bringing backpacks, and that balloons and drones are not allowed during the entire duration of the fluvial parade. (smb/PIA 7 with PR from CGD Central Visayas)
