Cebu Institute of Technology University Emerged as Grand Winner for Aboitiz 4th Green Fashion Revolution 2015

Cebu Institute of Technology University with their collection entitled Tropico – Green Fashion in Paradise about the natural landscapes and tropical scenery of Cebu. It’s a collection that is wearable and sale-able. Through the incorporation of waste materials in the design, they are pushing for ecotourism in Cebu’s beautiful spots. Materials used were tarpaulins, flour sacks and variety of recycled plastics.

Aside from winning the grand prize they also won an award as Best in clothing design and was 2012 Grand Winner. The Grand Winner went home with P30 thousand cash prize and P45 thousand for the community they will adopt.

1st prize went to University of San Carlos Talamban and was also awarded for Best in Footwear Design.

University of the Philippines, Grand Winner of last year 2014, won second place and also bagged an award for Best in Accessories and Bag Design while University of San Jose Recoletos won third place.

The Green Fashion Revolution Grand Winner, Cebu Institute of Technology University will have the opportunity to work with Aboitiz Foundation as they engage an adopted community for a socio- environmental project and likewise will have a chance to make a difference in today’s society by implementing a project that focuses on education, environment, enterprise development, and health and well-being.

Green Fashion Revolution was the brainchild of a group of Aboitiz scholars during the Aboitiz Scholars’ CSR Summit in December 2011 and was first staged in 2012 through the auspices of the Aboitiz Foundation. Since then, it has been challenging students to create clothing, footwear, and accessories that make use of recycled materials and highlight the importance of the 3Rs—reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. is the corporate foundation of the Aboitiz Group. Established in 1988, it addresses the social and economic development needs of marginalized members of society. It implements corporate social responsibility interventions especially in areas where Aboitiz companies are located.
