The Cebu City Council has approved the city’s Second Supplemental Budget (SB2) of PHP201.9 million, which includes the PHP30,000 bonus for each of the city’s 5,000 officials and workers.

The city’s first supplemental budget (SB1) remains unacted by the council because of a pending taxpayer’s suit asking the court to stop the use of the PHP8.9 billion proceeds from the sale of South Road Properties (SRP) lots.

The amount is the downpayment for the sale of 45 hectares of SRP lots paid by three giant real estate companies.

A total of PHP127.1 million was allotted for the cash incentives which will be released before December 11.

SB2 also includes PHP40 million for the garbage tipping fees in a private landfill in Consolacion town in northern Cebu where the city dumps its garbage.

The second supplemental budget approved by the council Monday is less than the PHP217-million original proposal of the executive department.

Other items in the approved budget are more than PHP3 million to pay for interest on the SRP loan and PHP1.5 million in bank charges, as well as PHP5.8 million in calamity funds. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
