Windows Notepad App Finally Upgrades

For most people with a Windows laptop, the Notepad app is a very familiar face and has been for years, but now it is undergoing a major change and will be released later in the year with Microsoft’s Windows 10 update codenamed Redstone 5.

Following requests flooding in from Windows 10 users who use the application, software giant Microsoft is adding in several new features in the Notepad app.

For starters, wrap around find and replace will be feasible and there will be performance enhancements for bulkier files. There is also the ability to zoom into text; this can be done by pressing the ctrl key while rolling a mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

Microsoft will be incorporating extended line ending support in Notepad as well. This is so that Macintosh line endings (CR) and Unix/Linux line endings (LF) will be supported by the app.

Additionally, status bar will be enabled in Notepad by default. When word-wrap is activated, the user gets access to the feature that allows the displaying of line and column numbers.

Other upgrades include ctrl+backspace support that deletes a preceding word, and a search support which allows the user to search for words on Bing via Notepad.

Notepad is typically used for logs, development, or text manipulation, so these updates can definitely be of function and add convenience for the purposes stated.
