Samsung Galaxy Tab S Announced

Samsung has officially announced its latest tablet, the Galaxy Tab S. The tablet will come in two sizes: an 8.4-inch model and a 10.5-inch model. Both models sport a SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 2560×1600.

Samsung says its screen technology gives better color and deeper contrast while consuming less power than the LCD displays in most tablets.

The tablet features a fingerprint scanner with up to eight people can use fingerprints to log into different profiles on the device. The Tab S also features SideSync, which lets the tablet pair with a Galaxy S5. Once paired, the tablet can view the phone’s screen, letting users take calls on the tablet via its speakers and microphone. SideSync can also be used to transfer files or even run apps.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab S will come with two different chipset varieties. The LTE variant will pack a Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, while the Wi-Fi version will offer Exynos 5 Octa chipset with a quad 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 and quad 1.9GHz Cortex-A15.

Both models will come with 3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for storage expansion of up to 128GB. The Galaxy Tab S sports an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera.

In terms of battery capacity, the 8.4-inch model will have a 4,900mAh battery while the 10.5-inch model will have a larger 7,900mAh battery.

The tablets are expected to be released in July.
