Microsoft Paint has received a significant update with the addition of new AI-powered features, making it a more compelling alternative for quick photo fixes to the likes of other image editing software like Photoshop.

One of the standout features is Generative Fill and Generative Erase, a tool which takes inspiration from similar tools from Adobe Photoshop. This AI-powered function allows users to remove specific areas from an image through a size-adjustable brush while seamlessly filling in the void using generative AI.

Generative Erase will work in a similar fashion, akin to the Magic Eraser on Google Pixel phones. This feature is also being integrated into the Microsoft Photos app.

Another notable addition to the update is Super-Resolution AI upscaling. This feature enables users to enhance blurry or pixelated images by increasing their resolution and clarity. This is particularly useful for restoring old photos or improving the quality of images captured in low-light conditions.
