Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) employees received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last Wednesday.

GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC) operator of MCIA, said the vaccination was done with the help of the Lapu-Lapu City government, the Department of Health-Central Visayas, the City Tourism Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission, and the City Health Office.

GMCAC President Louie Ferrer said that the vaccination of their frontline is important for the ongoing operation of the airport.

“The vaccination of our frontliners is essential to ensuring the continued health and safety of all who pass through and use the facilities of MCIA, as it is an additional layer of protection against Covid-19,” Ferrer said.

The MCIA remains open as a hub for transporting and receiving goods and to serve passengers, especially returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). (ASC)
