Filipino comedian Jo Koy stars in a film, Easter Sunday — a love letter to the Filipino-American community.

In the film, Jo Koy is a struggling actor, comedian, and single father who comes home to celebrate Easter Sunday with his riotous, bickering, eating, drinking, laughing, loving family Filipino.

The film also features an all-star cast including Jimmy O. Yang, Tia Carrere, Brandon Wardell, Eva Noblezada, Lydia Gaston, Asif Ali, Rodney To, Eugene Cordero, Jay Chandrasekhar, Tiffany Haddish, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Easter Sunday, from Amblin and DreamWorks, is directed by Jay Chandrasekhar and written by Ken Cheng and Kate Angelo, from a story by Cheng. The film is produced by Rideback’s Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich. Easter Sunday is executive produced by Koy, Jessica Gao, Yang, Cheng, Joe Meloche, Nick Reynolds, and Seth William Meier.

Easter Sunday release will be on August 5, 2022, in the US.

The film will be distributed by Universal Pictures domestically. Amblin Partners and Universal will share international distribution rights. (ASC)
