Cebu’s festival pride Tribu Lumad Basakanon hit the pages last week after emerging as four-time Grand Champion in Aliwan Festival on April 26 in Pasay City. The Tribe was hailed in the Aliwan Hall-of-Fame after attaining three successive winning streaks since 2006.

Because of their impressive performance, the Tribe bags home P1 million cash prize and a trophy. The Cebu City government allocated P1.6 million for Lumad, who also won Best Costume and Musicality, to send its 200-member contingents to Aliwan Fest, also dubbed as the “The Mother of all Fiestas”.
