Viloria Apologizes for Loss, Vows to Bounce Back Into Action

After losing his World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Association (WBA) belt to 22-year-old Mexican challenger Juan Francisco Estrada, Brian “Hawaiian Punch” Viloria apologized for letting his Filipino fans down on their flyweight bout last Saturday.

Viloria said via his Twitter account that his loss was a “tough pill to swallow”. Viloria also praised Estrada for a good fight, saying that the Mexican fighter “earned it”.

The challenger snapped Viloria’s six-game winning streak via split decision, 116-111 and 117-111 to Viloria’s 115-113. The title bout at the Cotai Arena at The Venetian Resort and Casino in Macau was a first for the Mexican fighter.

“Mexico, be proud of your new champion. Like always, I will bounce back from this,” said Viloria.
Viloria also apologized to all his Filipino fans for the loss. The Filipino fighter then promised to rise from the setback and try to make the country proud once again.

The defeat dropped Viloria’s record to 32-4-0 with 19 Knock Outs (KOs), while improving Estrada’s at 23-2-0 with 18 KOs.
