Vet Office Gives Out Free Rabies Vaccine

Mambajao, Camiguin – The second wave of free massive rabies vaccination is now ongoing in Camiguin to ensure sustainability of the rabies free program as well as protection of the public from the dangers of stray animals.

This is a regular program of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), administered twice in a year through house-to-house visits and administration of the vaccines to dogs and cats.

In a schedule released by the PVO office, some areas in the municipalities of Sagay and Catarman are still to be served next month, while trained team following a daily schedule starting August has visited the rest.

As of last month, PVO reported a total of 4,255 pets served, reaching 72 percent of its target for the year.

The massive rabies vaccination schedule likewise captures the “World Rabies Day” observance held every 28 September, where the PVO here also conducts video showing, hang out streamers and distributes posters or handouts about rabies.

The provincial government likewise sustained catching of stray animals and spaying or neutering activities. (JCV, PIA-10)
