Tabunok Public Market vendors are set to transfer to Lagtang again this April as the construction of the new market building in Tabunok is scheduled to start.

Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. delos Reyes, however, assured the vendors that the temporary transfer will only be for eight months while the construction is done, and after which they can go back to the new building in Tabunok.

Reyes said he is positive the vendors will not protest to it unlike in the 2011 transfer, which led to the fall of former first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas, who ran for mayor against him.

It was Gullas who was behind the transfer of the vendors to the Lagtang Public Market, which he built in 2004.

“Nana may MOA (memorandum of agreement), kung maghimo na og bag-o, balik usa sila kadali sa Lagtang. Di sila angay maguol, angay hinuon sila malipay kay papahuwaon sila og kadali apan pabalikon ra man sad gihapon,” said Delos Reyes.

Meanwhile, the council, last week, had given Delos Reyes the authority to loan P375 million to finance the construction of the market building. The mayor said they will either loan the money from Land Bank of the Philippines or Development Bank of the Philippines and after which they can bid out the project.
