(DFA) — Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is visiting the Philippines from March 16 to 19.

Her visit is in connection with her charity and various humanitarian works. She has been President of Save the Children for more than four decades and an active advocate of children’s rights and protection.

The Princess Royal’s itinerary includes a courtesy call on President Benigno S. Aquino III at the Malacañan Palace to discuss the projects of Save the Children in the Philippines, particularly those implemented in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda in Central Visayas.

She is likewise expected to meet with Vice President Jejomar Binay, Philippine legislators, government officials, members of the business community, various sectoral representatives, and non-governmental organizations who have UK-related engagement and interests.

A dinner in honor of The Princess Royal will be hosted by British Ambassador Asif Ahmad at the British Embassy. Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert F. Del Rosario has been invited to the function, where he will deliver his remarks, paying tribute to The Princess Royal for her humanitarian works across the globe, including in the Philippines.

The Princess Royal and her entourage will also fly to Ormoc City to visit project sites of Save the Children and meet with local beneficiaries.

This is the second trip of Her Royal Highness to the Philippines. The first was in March 1999.

The Princess Royal is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh. Before receiving the title Princess Royal from her mother in June 1987, she was known as Princess Anne. The Princess Royal heads about 320 organizations.
