Two Quakes Shook Cebu

Netizens were quick to post their “Linog” posts after two consecutive earthquakes were felt on the island of Cebu today, December 21, 2022.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first quake was felt at around 1:06 PM. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at Aloguinsan Town in the province of Cebu. The said earthquake registered a 2.9 magnitude on the Richter scale.

Another quake was also recorded right after the quake that happened in Aloguinsan, now the second quake’s epicenter was at Barili town and happened at around 1:25 PM. The Barili quake was said to have a magnitude of 2.5.

In a Twitter post by PHIVOLCS, both earthquakes were tectonic in origin.

PHIVOLCS is not expecting any aftershocks.

No damages were reported during the two earthquakes. (ASC)
