Tudela Gets Waterworks Expansion Project

Published

on

At least five barangays in the municipality of Tudela will have a better water distribution structure soon.

The municipal government has already secured a total amount of P12.5 million for the expansion of their water system.

A proportion of P7 million from the total amount came from the Capitol as a recipient of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Performance Challenge Fund. The Capitol started the bidding process last month.

Tudela Vice Mayor Greman Solante said the other fraction of P5.5 million was secured through the Bottom up Budgeting process of the Department of Budget. He said they wanted to apply the amount to the water system again so that it will reach more barangays.

At least five barangays will be covered by the project, namely: Calmante, Northern Poblacion, Southern Poblacion, General, and MacArthur up to its tourist come-on, Bukilat Cave.

Solante also stated that the Capitol has already spent P3 million for the construction of spring box in 2014. The spring box was applied on the water source in Barangay MacArthur to avoid spring contamination.

The municipal government also utilized P600,000 to proceed with the installation of lines from up the water source down to the provincial road in the lower part of MacArthur.

The distance from the water source to the provincial road is about 2.5 kilometers. The provincial road serves as the main thoroughfare in Tudela.

Amidst the extreme heat brought by El Niño, the volume of water that bubbled up from the water source has lessened.

With the installation of water system, Russel Martinez, officer-in-charge of the Municipal General Services Office, said they will be able to manage their water supply if drought comes again.
