Thousands of Cebuanos Join World Milk Day

More than 3,000 Cebuanos and few fitness instructors joined the World Milk Day in the country, spearheaded by Alaska Milk Corporation on Sunday at Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.

This year’s fete made bigger and better with simultaneous milk-drinking activity held nationwide particularly in Cebu, Baguio, Davao and Metro Manila which started at 7:30 in the morning.

Along with the activity, there was a simultaneous fitness classes in the three provinces for participants to start a healthy morning.

After the Zumba exercise, Alaska served a healthy breakfast of Alaska powdered milk paired with champorado drizzled with Alaska Evaporated Milk, pandesal filled with Alaska Condensed milk, and cereals with Alaska Fresh Milk.

The free fitness activity, which is part of the “Alaska Gatas for Breakfast” campaign, aims to get everyone to start the day with a nutritious breakfast.

Exercise and proper nutritious breakfast given during the event is Alaska’s way of helping the government to fight against the increasing number of obese children and adults in the country.

It is also designed to foster a healthy awareness among individuals and families.

According to the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Science and Technology—Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), at least 16 million Filipinos 20 years old and above, and two out of 10 children are overweight, which was concluded that obesity is one of the most prevalent nutritional problems of Filipino children and adults.

The annual event provides a great opportunity to reinforce the importance of drinking milk and healthy lifestyle to the people. Through the series of exciting activities lined up for the World Milk Day, Alaska Milk encourages children and adults alike to get into the habit of drinking milk and engage into sports activities to achieve optimum health.
