“I am thankful to Mayor Rama because this program is of great help to the people especially the less fortunate,” shared Marichu Gabinete, 25 one of the thousands of residents of Barangay Tisa who availed of the free services during the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” held Friday morning April 15, 2016 in Sitio La Paloma in the said barangay.

In an interview with the BARUGG News, Marichu who brought her 2 children and availed of the medical consultation further shared that the activity must be continued in order to reach out to more people.

Dubbed as the “Feast of Free Services” the activity is one of the major programs of Mayor Michael Rama which was launched in the year 2010 during his first term as the city’s chief executive. It is already institutionalized with the aim to bring the services of the city government closer to the people and avail it for free sans going to the different offices in Cebu City Hall.

Cebu City Councilor Nendell Hanz Abella showed support and gave the message in behalf of the city officials during today’s activity. He thanked everyone who supported in the program and encouraged the residents of Barangay Tisa to avail the services as it is the aim of Rama Administration to bring the services of the government closer to the people.

The beneficiaries also availed the various basic services from the 22 departments of the city government which served as a one-stop shop with avail-all-services-you-can system on a first-come, first served basis.

Among the services rendered were medical and dental consultations with free medicines, random blood sugar testing, blood typing, feeding for children, Cedula issuance and anti-rabies vaccination for dogs and cats.

Other services offered were the repair and installation of street lights and artesian wells, consultation on traffic issues and concerns, consultations on the ‘Let there be Light Program’ and urban poor related issues, free hair cutting, job placement referral, pruning and trimming of trees, consultation on drug related issues, fire prevention orientation, and vaccinations for pneumonia prevention, among several others.

Furthermore, the all-out support of everyone wrapped-up the great success of the activity which ended around 12 noon until everyone were served. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
