The Predicament of the Heartbroken

Published

How can I recover from a broken heart?

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

“From the ends of the earth, I will cry to you for help, for my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety.” Psalm 61:2

There is no quick antidote for a broken heart. No pill, taken twice a day for two weeks, will cure it. A broken heart needs a different kind of healing -and doses of compassion, listening, love, comfort, encouragement, and blessing will eventually restore joy and hope to your soul. God is the only Master Healer -no other else. Others can help, but no one can touch your broken heart and health it as He can. When you are hurting, move toward God, not far away from Him. He is the greatest source of joy and healing.

The Psalmist said, “Come quickly, Lord, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. Let me hear of Your unfailing love to me in the morning, for I am trusting You. Show me where to walk, for I have come to You in prayer.” (Psalm 143:7-8)

“He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
