The Essence of Accessories

Published

on

Have you ever left the house without putting on a pair of earrings? Do you feel like something is missing for the rest of the day, like your look is lacking a little luster? An outfit without accessories is like cake without icing; dry and boring. By pairing your outfit with the right earrings, bracelet, necklace, or purse (clutches, scarves, belts, hair accessory or nail color, etc.) you can make a statement without saying a word. The accessories you choose say something about your personality; they can be like a piece of art, and they can have meaning.

Choker and Collar Length Necklaces

Rather than reaching for your strand of pearls, consider a shorter, wider option. Both, choker and collar necklaces will emphasize the feminine curve of your neck and can be worn with a low or high cut top. If you feel like your blouse or dress is a bit bland, add a bright colored choker or a bold, intricate collar. Either one of these options with take your look from just so-so to “Wow, that woman is not afraid to make a statement!”

Bigger is Better – Big earrings are in

They are show stoppers, attention grabbers, and statement makers. Chandelier earrings are the trend, and as the name suggests they are big and they sparkle. This style would be perfect for a Friday night out with the girls, pair them with a LBD (long black dress), and you are golden. Speaking of gold; large gold earrings are popular as well. Gold cross earrings, gold earrings twisted into geometric shapes; you can’t go wrong with big, gold earrings.

Bracelets

You will find a similar theme for bracelets as with necklaces and earrings; big is in. Consider wearing a cuff. You can find them in a variety of materials and finishes. Gold, rose gold, silver, or even a leather cuff can add just the right amount of flair.

Clutches

When it comes to purses, consider downsizing. Find a clutch in a contrasting color or design, perhaps a clutch with a checkerboard pattern. Although a clutch is small, it can still hold your essentials and create enough of a statement to get you noticed and give your look the glamor that it needs.

One Rule Though: Don’t over-accessorize

Accessories are like art, you don’t want to crowd one wall with too many paintings. They would all compete for your attention. In the same way, you don’t want to wear too many bold accessorize. Choose one statement piece and let it shine. If you wear chandelier earrings, skip the necklace. If your clutch is neon yellow, your shoes don’t have to match. Use your best judgment, but definitely don’t forget the flair!
