Talisay City Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes, who showed frustrations over the failure of his Tabunok public market project, on Monday rejected his vice mayor from his political team for 2016 elections.

Delos Reyes is considering either of the two Talisay council members Danilo Caballero or Valeriano Ylanan as his running mate in the coming polls.

One of the reasons why the Talisay chief executive wants the rejection of Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante from his political line up, was his (Villarante) failure to support for the construction of a new Tabunok public market.

Earlier, Delos Reyes eyed to negotiate a P350 million bank loan with an endorsement from the city council to finance the public market project.

“But it seems the vice mayor is not cooperative and instead stalled the proposal allowing me to negotiate a loan with the bank,” Delos Reyes said.

It can be recalled that Delos Reyes and Villarante’s team up during the 2013 elections have caused a total loss of their opponent, mayoral candidate Eduardo Gullas, a veteran politician in the first district.

One of the delicate issues they ought to solve is the reconstruction of Tabunok public market. The promise to rebuilt this infrastructure has catapulted Delos Reyes to the highest political position in Talisay in the last election.

But now that this promise may not be fulfilled, Talisay voters are in doubt over the construction of Tabunok public market.
