Sweet Avalanche at Waterfront Hotel

Here’s something for the sweet-toothed ones.

Colorful macarons, funnily shaped chocolates into forms like hearts, lollipops and bees, and mango eclairs.

All these make up the treats that Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino Food & Beverage Division has to offer to every Cebuano and indulgent alike, having its new Executive Pastry Chef Schihab Ahmed.

Fondly known as Adam, the 32-year old Maldivian joins the legendary business and conventions hotel with an impressive slate of accomplishments of 10 years in three continents.

Aside from creative inventions in the desert line, Chef Adam also takes pride in using locally-produced ingredients like cacao, coconut, banana, mango, ube and others in his innovations. Having married to a Filipina,he has spent a number of years already in the Philippines.

An intimate gathering of guests from the media and the blogsphere were treated for a dessert during the Sweet Avalanche, held at hotel’s own Treff Bar last July 30.

Guests succumbed into the saccharine goodness of Chef Adam’s creations as each one helped themselves tasting the now famous macarons in different flavors such as strawberry, coffee, chocolate, mango, pistachio and the well-loved Filipino favorite ube, not to mention coconut tartes, and chocolate cream-filled eclairs, a selection of mousses and creams in different flavors treated the night away! The mousses and creams boast of fresh fruits and rich chocolate with it.

Chef Adam even had his take on the classic streetfood that we famously call bananaque, with the banana on a stick. It had a light glaze and was served in convenient portions. Other delights served on a stick were chocolate-dipped strawberries, balloons and one of his creations, the chocolate ball that has the sought-after dark chocolate taste.

Vibrant and full of life, this dynamic and innovative brilliant draws passion for learning in the over 30 countries he has been brought to and his extensive list of achievements in the hospitality industry. Being Cebu-based, Chef Adam advocates the use  of home-grown ingredients in making delicious confections with an international flair.
