Suspects Throw A Hand Grenade at Talisay Checkpoint

A hand grenade was thrown by suspects at a checkpoint in Rabaya St., Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City at 11 p.m., Monday.


According to the Talisay City Police Station blotter, policemen from said station were having their regular checkpoint when the incident took place. Police stopped a motorcycle-riding tandem who were approaching the checkpoint area, when the backrider allegedly pointed a gun at the police. The backrider allegedly pulled the trigger, but luckily it did not go off. When police started apprehending the two, a hand grenade was thrown at them. One of the policemen said fortunately it did not go off as well.

Police identified the suspects as Elmer Eballe and one Jake Solis, who are temporary residents of Barangay San Isidro, but are actually natives of Misamis Oriental. Investigators believed the two were involved in a robbery group because of the lethal weapons in their possession. Criminal complaints were expected to be filed against them today.
