The blazing summer heat has already begun to take a toll on us. Over the next few months this heat will begin to dehydrate us causing loss of important nutrients from our body. In order to make sure that our body is loaded with all the necessary antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to combat the heat, Health Me Up provides us a few list of summer superfoods to include in our diet.

Watermelon
Watermelon is one of the most beneficial foods to include in your summer diet. This summer fruit is made up of more than 90 percent water ensuring that you stay hydrated. It also contains antioxidants and nutrients like vitamin A, C and B6, which helps keep your immune system healthy. Apart from that, its natural sugar content helps maintains electrolytes that are lost while sweating.

Mango
Philippine summers are always associated with mangoes. But did you know that this delicious tropical fruit is an extremely good source of antioxidants and other nutrients like vitamin C and beta-carotene? This superfood also acts as a good source of fiber, thereby aiding digestion.

Cucumbers
Cucumber is another hydrating summer food you can add to your diet to combat the heat. It contains about 96 percent of water and is also a good source of magnesium and potassium, which are known to aid bone health. You can munch on this food any time of the day to re-hydrate your body or to pacify hunger pangs and the best part is that cucumber is not high in calories.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes are another important superfood to consume in summer. Tomatoes are an extremely good source of the antioxidant called Lycopene, which has a number of health benefits including protection from the harmful summer UV rays.

Grapes
