Sponjie Reggae in cooperation with Iamik’s Chicken and Beer presents Sponjie Reggae 56 One Love: A Pre- Valentine Day Special this February 13, 2015 at Iamik’s Chicken and Beer 9:00pm.

This reggae inspired pre- valentine special will have performances by Big Marvin and the Wigiws, S.T.I.F., Sefyla, Bow Tied Robbers, New Natty Grass, Peace of Mind and N.P.A.

Reggae is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term reggae more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento and calypso music, as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady.

One of the music genre’s heroes is Robert Nesta “Bob” Marley OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981). He was a Jamaican reggae singer-songwriter, musician, and guitarist who achieved international fame and acclaim. Starting out in 1963 with the group the Wailers, he forged a distinctive songwriting and vocal style that would later resonate with audiences worldwide.

The event is also brought to us by Antolihaw Records and Gest Green Stoner. Entrance to the event is free.
