San Juan City (PIA) – The City of San Juan will hold the “Wattah Wattah Festival” in honor of its Patron Saint, St. John the Baptist.

San Juan City Mayor Guia G. Gomez issued Executive Order No. 02-212 dated 19 June 2015, enjoining all School Administrators to suspend their classes on June 23 and 24, 2015, to allow their faculty members and students to participate in said festival.

San Juan is renowned for its celebration of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist every 24 June. In a nod to the saint’s characteristic act, San Juaneños engage in Basaan (“wetting”), where revellers splash people with water. (SAN JUAN/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
