RAFI’s Adventure Camp Inspires Argao Youth Leaders

Published

on

After youth leaders from Argao, Cebu experienced the development program of the Kool Adventure Camp (KAC) of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), they decided to bring out more of the best of their community.

KAC alumni from the Alliance of Argawanon Young Leaders (AAYL) trained 60 youth leaders through collaborative games.

The participants were from Argao National High School, Argao Youth Heritage Society, Chiro Youth Movement, Canohoy Youth Organization, Mandilikit Youth, Youth for Christ, Talaga National High School, Bulasa National High School, and Parish Youth Coordinating Council.

This workshop, held in the second quarter of this year, was a partnership between AAYL and Play for Peace International, which is a global learning community dedicated to bring together children, youth, adults, and organizations by using cooperative play to create and promote laughter, compassion, and peace.

According to one of the participants, the play session reminded him of the value of being united with other youth leaders even when they come from different organizations. He added that every goal is attainable if members learn to be open-minded while acknowledging individual and group differences.

KAC is one of the programs under the Leadership & Citizenship focus area of RAFI, where future leaders are nurtured to prepare them to take an active role in affecting change. RAFI’s other focus areas are Integrated Development, Micro-finance & Entrepreneurship, Culture & Heritage, and Education.

KAC has been offering adventure education programs for leadership and team development for youth and professionals for the last decade. KAC’s Leadership Adventure Program launched its pilot run in the Philippines’ first fully dedicated adventure education center in Balamban, Cebu last May 2013 with the Argao youth and student leaders of the Union of Progressive Students of the University of the Philippines Cebu College.
