These clever tips should help bust anxiety real quick.

1. Get up a wee bit earlier

Starting your day in a mad rush sets a harassed tone for the day. Having a half-hour before you leave home gives you time to get dressed, get things in order, and your day sets off to a calm beginning.

2. Don’t let delays bug you

Traffic on the way to a meeting? Squeeze and release your fingers and toes three times, while taking three slow breaths and telling yourself how blessed you are to have this extra time to prepare for the meeting.

3. Belt out a tune

Scientists from the University of Frankfurt, Germany, found that singing triggers the body to release anti-stress hormones. Their subjects? A choir rehearsing Mozart’s Requiem. But, singing along to any kind of music will zap tension. So, go ahead, and grab your gal pals to a night of karaoke!

4. Meditate on the move

For Zen on-the-go, try “walking meditation”, as described in Peace In Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh. “While walking, count the number of steps you take as you breathe in.” Soon, a natural state of relaxation will set in. (Adapted by Jessy Pearl)
