PASCHAL TRIDUUM

Spectators of this year’s Buhing Kalbaryo in Brgy Guadalupe gather before the dead body of Christ, also known as the ‘Lamentation of Christ’, where Jesus, after his death, was removed from the cross and was mourned by friends including his mother, Mary.

The Black Saturday or Holy Saturday (Sabbatum Sanctum) is part of the Paschal Triduum or the three days. It is the day before Easter and the last day of Holy Week in which Christians prepare for Easter.

The Black Saturday commemorates the day that Jesus Christ’s body lay in the tomb.
