Cebu Parklane International Hotel (CPIH) is set to unfold another Hunat Sugbo Triathlon event on May 3, 2014 in Bantayan Island, Cebu to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the island.

The race features a 1-kilometer swim, 30-K bike and 7-K run, which were designed for amateur triathletes.

The route starts at Brgy. Baigad, Bantayan for the swim then runs through Sitio Bombil Brgy. Okoy, Sta. Fe, and the bike pass through Sillon Road and continued around the province showcasing its landmarks spots such as Bantayan Southern Institute, St. Vincent Ferrer Church, St. Peter and Paul Church, and the Plaza.

There will be no cash prizes since the event is for charity, but only tokens, gift certificates, trophies and freebies will be given to the top 3 finishers in each category (Male, Female, Relay Male and Relay Mix), and age category from 18-29 years old, 30-39, 40-49 and 50 years old and above.

“We don’t actually expect the same number of participants last year, we even expect only half because it is for the fundraising to help Bantayan and just to enjoy the experience” said Cenelyn Manguilimotan, General Manager of Cebu Parklane International Hotel.

426 Triathletes are expected to join this race with mostly of the delegates enlisted are CPIH employees. Apart for the fundraising, the race also targets to promote Bantayan Island as part of the tourist destination in Cebu. Bantayan Island is known for its stunning white beaches.

“Actually this is the first triathlon that will happen in Bantayan because the mayor of the place is really asking to have a triathlon so that people will see and discover that the island has something to show”, Manguilimotan added.

Hunat Sugbo started out as ‘Dagan Para ni Maning’, a memorial run for the late owner of the hotel- Manuel Ting– which aims to stand true to what they believe in– to promote the entire Cebu as the next tourist destination. This is in line with the core value of CPIH as a “hotel in Cebu that stands for Cebu.”

Interested participants may register online at www.hunatsugbu.com or may drop by at Cebu Parklane International Hotel. Entry fee is P1,800 inclusive of event T-shirt, Finisher’s medal, Race bib, Loot bag, Swim cap, Helmet and bike number stickers, pre-race lunch meal and post-race dinner meal.
